Smarty Pants

Back in March we had Corbin tested for the Primary Advanced Learners first grade program.  We just got his test scores back and he scored an 8 out of 9 on the national Cog_AT test and got accepted into the program for next year.  We are pretty proud of him and excited to see him start school outside of the home for the first time this fall.

Chickens

We knew once we bought our new house with such a large lot that we eventually wanted to have some chickens so that we could eat fresh, organic eggs whenever we wanted.  When it came to deciding when we would get said chickens we didn't so much agree.  Caleb wanted to wait a year, because well our yard and house are a wreck and we have a TON of work to do to get everything in order.  I wanted to get them now, because I have no patience and don't like to wait for anything.  So in the end I convinced Caleb let us get some chickens for "the kids" for Easter after getting them excited and talking up how fun pet chicks would be :)

We went out on Friday and let Corbin and Makelle each pick out their own breed.  Makelle got an ameraucana because she is hoping for cute colorful eggs.  Corbin got a white silkie, because he thought they looked ridiculous.  And we picked out a black australorp and buff orpington to be for Seth and the new baby because they are suppose to be good layers, cold hardy and good with kids.

We aren't the most creative bunch so call them Easter Egger, Silkie, Stringer and Buffy.

Corbin likes to pretend they are parrots and he is a pirate.  Makelle likes to flap their wings for them and pretend they are flying around the room.

So far we are having a lot of fun with our new little chicks and hoping for lots of yummy omelets this fall.

Big Boy Bed

When  we moved into the new house we decided to forego setting up the crib for Seth and just stuck him on the trundle bed in the boys' room the first night.  We were tired, it had been a long day and we didn't have the energy to finish assembling a crib.  But much to our surprise he has done great and even now that we have the crib reassembled he has slept in a twin bed every night and for every nap for the past month.

Sometimes Corbin joins him if he is having a hard time calming down and cuddles with him until he or both of them fall asleep.

Our House!

We moved in to our new house Easter weekend. It still didn't have appliances, shower glass, some tile, etc. but it was done enough to live in. The contractor has been in and out finishing things up and we still haven't gotten all the way unpacked, but we are loving our new space.

Everyone keeps asking to see before and after pictures. Originally I wanted to wait until we got it all decorated and bought new furniture to show it off but since its been a month and we still haven't even started decorating I realized that could be awhile so I thought I would just go ahead and post some pictures now.
